Just got lost a game bc it was "abandoned" which it wasn't...I was waiting to move. So I guess the server dropped out... again?

Like, what's the point?

There needs to be a report button just for that kinda issue.

If you're disconnected from the live server process, even if it doesn't appear that your disconnected, you can lose by abandonment.

Live chess has been having problems all day, and now it seems like it's truly broken. I don't know what's going on with the site/servers but there have been more and more connection issues recently and it's getting really frustrating. My most recent game got randomly abandoned...just as I was winning of course.

A very similar thing just happened to me. My clock went from 1:30 to 0 instantly and I lost on time! If the clocks can't even work then we're doomed.

There was a server restart that took a little longer than normal earlier.

Was playing the game normally after some initial connection errors but after spending maybe 15 seconds on move 10, the game dropped out/bugged and took eight minutes of my time. I didn't disconnect for eight minutes, I didn't leave. After reloading I had simply gone from 8:20 to 0:14. Great site.

 

That was related to the restart. Contact support with a link to the game an they should be able to refund the rating in this particular case.

Hi, I cannot get live chess to load.. Everytime I go to open challenges, the box pops up that reads please wait, it is taking longer than usual to connect. Then if I click on the change settings option, nothing happens.

Also, what browser and browser version are you on? Does Play work for you?

Went through those steps, restarted chrome, updated chrome, cleared cache and cookies, tried firefox, tried both play and live chess, and nothing works. Not even the phone app works! I've only been able to do daily chess for the past several days, almost a whole week. Not sure what else I'm supposed to do on my end. I just find it interesting that it only seems to be happening to me so it must be my "fault" somehow, but I'm getting weary of trying to fix this. Feels like my only real option is to quit the site and move to lichess or something.

Hi, I have a problem that has been going on for about a year now. Sometimes while playing live games, it doesn't give me the full options. For example, it won't let me move certain pieces or it might not allow me to move into certain spots. This happens even when I'm not in check. Is this some sort of misunderstanding on my end? Is it supposed to do that?

Do you play on a Windows 11 computer?

If yes, rebooting might clear your problem.
