it is probably because of the number of people trying to play and tryout the 'new' live chess.  Or simply because it isn't the final version of live chess quite yet.

For me,  it has never been so stable and quick as todayLaughing

ITOH, browser based online chess interfaces aren´t as fast as client server ones.
