The previous move for white was the pawn move c2-c4. Black could have captured that pawn “en passant” with the pawn move bxc3 instead of Qc5.
"A better move was bxc3."
First of all there is no piece on b3 to be taken. Secondly, there is no b that can take this phantom piece.
