"Trigger Moves" Suggestion

Should there be a setting similar to premoves, where if you have only one legal move in the position, the site would automatically play it for you in a tenth of a second just like a premove? It would need to be enabled just like premoves, but seems relatively easy to program. Sure the opponent may end up spending more time if he's winning trying to checkmate you while you only have a lone king, but usually you have at least 2 legal moves and since the opponent can also premove it seems fair. What do you think?

As much as the setting would help you, I would have to *respectfully* disagree. It would help with people stalling games, although it helps a little too much.

Lets say you only have a lone king, while your opponent has a queen or two. As well as you both only have seconds remaining. At that point, personally I would be trying to win by time. & if you are not paying attention, and you only have one possible move you would lose. With the "trigger move" setting, you would automatically move, possibly winning the entire game.

As much as I would love to see this setting, I feel like it could be too much of a help, & cause unfair wins b/c someone isn't paying attention.

Well it likely wouldn't cause wins, as a lone king left guarantees the opponent a draw if he runs out of time. The player with time left still has to have enough pieces to checkmate to win on time. Also, even in queen endgames, the king will usually have at least 2 squares to go to until its on the very edge and there are no other pieces. They would only trigger when you have exactly 1 legal move.

Good point, I didn't put that into consideration. It could cause draws then. And only 1 legal move is more common then you think. But it still could cause wins if you have a lonesome pawn or a few extra minor pieces. Either way, I would rather draw a game due to time then lose it. But that might not happen normally, and this setting could cause it. Which in my opinion, it's still too much help.

Even if not, it's unlikely chess.com will add this feature since it is not important compared to bugs & features they are normally/currently working on.

Well common occurrences of it would be like casting and getting checked with a knight on e2 or e7. But since the winning player can probably premove just as much, it cancels out. It might cause confusion in some cases, if both sides have it enabled, such as here:

The whole sequence of moves would instantly play out LOL, if both sides activated this setting!
