unfair fair play policy

Sort:
niels5x9

i've been playing ches.com my ipad for over a month now and everytime i have just played a game and i want to play  another game it says: challenge cancelled by the server...

and when i try playing on he computer it says i have to wait 5 minutes because i cheated by stalling, abandoning or intensional aborted  games (fair play policy) i swear i have never did one of those things.

i hope you will see that the fair play policy is not working well and my account wil not longer be  "banned"

sorry for my bad english

grts, niels5x9

@OP: The server aborts the game whenever a player takes more than 20 seconds to make the first move. The server then counts this abortion against whichever player failed to move once the challenge was accepted.

niels5x9

you can see that i never aborted any games here: http://www.chess.com/members/view/niels5x9#games

i even finish most of the games when the opponent doesn't resign...

i got blocked from challenging anybody but my friends after my last game.... i won and nobody disconnected before that

whirlwind2011

@OP: Aborted games don't appear in the Game Archive, so we cannot see whether or not you have aborted any games.

MsIceQueen

Talk about unfair play; if You've never aborted games then why did you resign after just 6 moves in our game???!  Please review... http://live.chess.com/live?v=20120926#g=372379167 . Were you just dissatisfied with the opening played?  Resigning so soon in a playable game goes against what you've already stated above.  This is not only unfair to the entent of fair play but is also very unsportsman like.  If you don't like the possibilities some openings may transpose to then I suggest you don't paly those openings.  But PLEASE DON'T PREACH about unfair ban from disconnects and then resign playable games 6 moves into the game.

callog

I have exactly the same problem using Ipad

niels5x9

dear mslcQueen

i proberly had a good reason to quit that game, i have a very buisy agenda including sports school and stuff like that.
somthimes things like this happen.
dont be  [EDITED BY A MOD] to condemn every fast resigner

[ calling others names is rude and will result in staff action.]

niels5x9

thanx to the comment of RetGuvvie98 i have solved the problem

MsIceQueen

So then if your excuse for quiting a game prematurely is that you are quite busy; then, perhaps you shouldn't start games you are not prepared to finish. Additionally, if you can use that lame excuse then whose to say or not that it is or isn't the same lame reason someone whom has aborted in a game with you is using...maybe they are just busy with sports, school and stuff like that.  Better communication of such a busy schedule rather than running away may permit me to think something different. But since there was no communication of your attentions then I must assume no different than poor sportsmanship and unfair play!

dtrasatti

I thought chess helped with visual spacial reasoning and planning.

Doesn't seem like the "planning" piece is working out. If you have a busy life, then plan to play live chess when you have time to sit and play. Otherwise, just stick to online correspondence chess.

If you don't like either of those, then go to [some other site] =)

niels5x9

dear, MsIceQueen and dtrasatti

"poor sportsmanship" "lame excuses" "go to some other site"

this kind of rude things where said in the previous comments, why? because I resigned a game before I actually lost.

after the rude attacking of my sportive reputation I reviewed the game and I got to know that at that time I was starting to practice different openings not including the Sicilian defence that MsIceQueen opened with.
because of my limited time and the stress of school, I couldn't keep temper and choose to resign. You act like this was bad for you but because of the excellent chess system you got rating points from my resignation.

I took time to check if MsIceQueen and dtrasatti followed their own rules and took two games from both of you guys.

You resigned before the end of the game, why? Because you lost 1 bishop, losing a bishop doesn’t mean you lose so this  sure was a “”playable” game

You had a losing game but you chose to resign before the opponent could actually checkmate you, you just didn’t grant him the satisfaction of checkmate

Dtrasatti

1.

You lost your queen for an enemy queen… so you just resign ? maybe wining that game would be hard for you but MsIceQueen earlier stated that “resigning is  very unsportsman like ” unsportsman doesn’t seem like a word to me but regardless of that you are clearly ‘nothing better than me’

2. http://www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=382559142

This game looks similar to game 1 but here you traded a rook for a queen losing 4  ‘points’  and you where defiantly able to win that game.

Maybe I did similar things but I never stated that early resignation is a bad thing so basically you’re just break your own rules

First : In my opinion you don’t lose the right ask for a solvation of a problem by resigning after six moves… 1 in 300 games.

second: I filed a ticked to http://support.chess.com/Tickets/Submit like RetGuvvie98 told me and the problem has been solved, I no longer have to wait 5 mins between games, there was a problem with the system not with me.

Third: paly? I think you mean play. You rudely insulted me and you didn’t even took time to correct your spelling? When you didn’t had time for that, did you have time to check the other facts you have stated?

That’s it, I hope you do have time to answer all of my questions.

Thanks for for the feedback. I'll keep that in mind. It's nice to know that other people study my games. Something I should probably do. It might make be a better chess player. Ps: I didn't even bother reading through most of that diatribe, I'll just assume most of it was pretty defensive in nature. Nice touch at the end though.. It's always nice to pick up on typos.
