why did this game not abort sooner?

why isn't this game aborted?

I've been winning this game. And I  probably will win this game.

My opponent has  quite playing, maybe a technical issue or he just abandoned the game, while I had him in check.  

Isn't the system meant to auto abort after a few minutes?

I had to wait from 14:19 to 5:18    that's almost 10 minutes.

If he had been thinking that's one thing maybe you could have a button for that like "yeah still here"

There have been times where i've taken a while to move and i'm hearing noises and seeing counting maybe 2 minutes or less. 

it often happened to me too one evening I was twenty minutes waiting before my opponent replied to the meuse there is also someone incorrect ...
