Why do some players offer draw when I almost win the match

I always encounterd player who offers me draw when I almost defeat them, sometimes they make me wait and leave the game without resigning. I wish I don't encounterd such a player anymore

I usually think they are either trying to get you to click on it as if it is a need to claim the draw, since at times, you may be wainting for it to pop up yourself. I also think some of them think that people are stupid. Perhaps most ananoying is that, they want to distract you, P!$$ you off, so that you can't concentrate on finishing them off when you have a decisive advantage.

I wish they had a force forfeit , after being abused in won position button....

Yes , maybe it's their way to distract their opponent but I think the best way is to resign. I wish the system can detect that also. The best way is to ignore their tricks, I'm just upset for them to think that I'm stupid like that. If I encounter that again , I will mate them with pawn. Haha

Yeah, you can humiliate them by getting 4 bishops or 3 queens and toying with them, just be careful that you don't accidently draw with them.

One other possibility I just thought of is, if their cell phone acts stupid, freezes and they start trying to make things work, swiping their finger, or they accidentally bump the offer draw button somehow and can't withdraw the offer. I have bumped stuff trying to blow up parts the screen so I could see certain things, when I was using the Firefox app instead of the chess.com app. Chances are though, that it is intentional. I have had it done to me too.

I look to the other side too but he offers me draw 5 times . I have bishop and a rook. And he has pawn ,can't promote because of my guard . If I experience that again I will paste screenshot. Me too use iPod and lots of pop outs appear. And also I'm not premium members, it's been a week since I registered here. On the other side. I enjoy playing blitz on chess.com

Yes your right. Some didn't know the meaning of sportsmanship. I'm glad if I encounter the no to surrender man and finish him quickly . If some play dirty tricks and I have a huge advantage on them, I will toy with them I I have lots of time until their brain collapsed ^ _,^

Maybe the fairest solution to keep everyone happy is that everyone should offer and accept a draw straight away before any moves are made and the state of play is by default exactly balanced.

This leaves both parties happy they didn't lose - and the world a better and more harmonious place to live in

Strikertaz_07

yes right.  offering unreasonable draw  .  they think your stupid to accept or your careless to accept the offer.  my reply to  you is mate with bishop or pawn .  or , trap you until your move left is two.   feelings recoil at them somehow.

The only time I offered a draw was when the game just started no advantage to anyone and I had to leave.  The other person wouldn't accept it so I had to take a loss because I didn't have time to finish the game.  But I agree playing with respect and sportsmanship is most important.

Strikertaz_07

Yes that is a reasonable , but u should see first who has the advantage. Sorry for late reply

just got a draw offer for currant game and we are EQUAL in pieces WTF

You can use it to your advantage. Put the king on the back row, move your king to the back row as well, put a rook or queen behind your king, and then move the king out of the way for a checkmate. You get the 'Killer King' award if you do so.

It's weird if they're losing.

Ah, so you're the one doing it.

They're just being stupid. Ignore it. Relax.

I just did that recently, but it was a mistake on my part. I meant to hit the resign button and hit draw by mistake. It might not be anything malicious, just a miss click.

I had that happen not too long ago when I was up 2 queens. It's pretty silly, but it is possible they want you to click on it by accident, maybe thinking it is a resignation. You don't even need to click on it, if you make your next move it goes away.
