Likhit1: You are correct, but it is off- putting playing opponents who hurl insults at you.

You can disable chat if you want.

I was playing in a Tournament game here recently. We had no prior communication, then all of a sudden my opponent insulted me. I insulted him back, deleted chat, blocked him, and reported him to the admin.

Since then, whomever I play, I will first delete chat...I am not interested in this happening to me again. Sorry, but I just can't handle the juvenile crap.

An option would be to allow you to edit your opponent's text in the game chat. Still, Chelsea losing at home to Sunderland must be more irritating than a text bandit texting out of his backside. My 2c.

I think you should insult them first before they insult you, then block them and report them.

OR

Insult them in their notes, something really mean and end it with "you don't like it when it is against you do you? Justice!". Then block them and report them before they get do anything

I think the internet provides the perfect mask for all the haters. But it also reveals who they really are. I come on this site to enjoy a game of chess, not to trade insults, it's not the first time this has happened to me, but it was the last...I am no longer interested in any communication from anyone I play.

You live a lonely life Canadian

Nobody insults you until you've decided they insulted you!

would Chuck Norris get insulted ? He'd admire the person for complimenting their own plonkosity.

Personallly, I got fed up with the offensive nature of 'gg' in live.

So I don't play live a lot.

"gg" is a quick way of saying, "good game," which is common among many online games outside of just chess...i have no clue how one could be insulted by a quick and impersonal, "good game," unless they're grumpy and a sore loser/winner.

as for the "jerks" on this site, they're here...and it is mostly unnecessary.  i don't mind a snippy comment as long as it's followed by some sort of explanation...whether for their comment or for a better solution so i avoid making the same mistake again.  we're all here to learn...some may have been playing chess instead of sports since they were kids, while others just think of it as a relaxing mind-game.  as for the talk, just have some respect and if you absolutely destroy someone in a game, offer a rematch...what's the worst that could happen...you lose some imaginary points? oh f'n well!

Sometimes I give a lot of imaginary sweat to win those imaginary points and if it's all the same to you I'd rather hang on to them.
