I'm not sure why people get angry. Verbally abusing your opponent because they declined a rematch isn't going to make them change their mind.
you CAN decline a return game in live chess

To some here it is a requirement that you grant a rematch.
There are lots of threads about it. They can get pretty arrogant and rude if you don't agree with them. The fact is there are plenty of reasons to not want to play a rematch, the biggest reason being "I don't want to."

It's the most childish ridicilous thing ever. If somebody wants at their own choice to play a game of chess online they have the right to do so no matter if some child on the other end wants a rematch. Just seek another game, you'll get the other color and another opponent, who cares....just unreal.

Why is this? Is the 'offer' of a rematch 'an offer you can't refuse'?
ahahah, i like that.
apparently they like to live in some imaginary moral high ground where if you don't want to "give them another chance" or "one game with white and one with black" or whatever then you are, to quote someone... "very, very rude, poor sportsmanship and in violation of established chess etiquette".
i don't understand why people feel the need to prove themselves to a completely random stranger over the internet, but hey, that's how things roll!

If you're going to be rude to me because I didn't do just what you wanted me to do.....I don't want to play bullies or bad-tempered fools.
