The drawback to online chess, and why i dont play anything longer than 2/1, unless its correspondance.
Unfortunately if you agree to play a G30, that is what can happen, and i dont think its fair to only give someone an "X" amount of time to think/make a move. 2 people agreed to play a game at a certain lime limit.
Ok, yippee, you are eagerly playing this nice game when all of a sudden, your opponent disconnects and a countdown time begins..well, what if it starts at 30 mins..You have to wait 30 mins for someone to never show up and you win? Honestly, if there is going to be a disconnection timer, set it either for less than the time remaining on the opponents clock and give a maximum of 10 mins. So even if you're playing an hour long game and your opponent's internet fails or their computer dies, they get 10 mins to get back, not 30 mins. And if the opponent has 5 mins left and disconnects, then a 5 minute disconnection timer gets set.
