I just wanted to say that I will be doing my first ever in person tourny and was wondering what to do in a real life tourny. do I need to find out who Im playing and what they have preperad or what?
I recommend not worrying about preparing for your opponent if you know ahead of time. Focus on just playing the chess and getting accustomed to the environment. The cliche advice is always the best in this situation:
- Get a good night's sleep.
- Eat a healthy breakfast.
- Warmup before the tournament with tactics (no opening theory or memorization)
