Hi everybody, was wondering if anybody who's based in Athens would like to meet for Otb games. I actually would love to create a group with a proper place and regular meeting, like once a week. No money involved, only enthusiasm for chess and why not a couple of beers. If you are interested please reply the post or contact me privately and we make this happen, togheter! +18

You can play OTB at Panellinion Cafe, at the center of Athens (Greece). They organize a rated rapid tournament every week.

I used to live there but not at present. I do remember seeing old guys playing chess in a central Athens park.

going there in a week, any nice chess bars?

I remember seeing chess being played in cafes in the lefty Exarcheia neighbourhood near the city centre and these cafes usually at least have a chessboard present. You could also check out pfren's suggestion.

Cafe Panellinion is some 400m from Exarcheia Square.

And Exarcheia cannot be labelled as lefty any more, unless "Airbnb" is an abbreviation of "Fourth International".

Oh yeah, I remember that it was the place where the 1976 World Championship was held. There, the mystery super GM Claude Bloodgood defeated all of them within 20 moves using the Grob.
