@ebillgo It may not seem much, but the capture order matters. On the first puzzle, 2.wrfxe5+ is the right move, not 2.wrexe5+. 2.wrexe5+ still leads to a forced mate, but in more moves after 2...bkg7.

After 2.wrfxe5+ bpxe5 3.wrxe5, the position goes back to the position on the 3rd move you have posted in your solution and the mate in 9 is correct. Even if 3...bkg7, the mate in 9 stays true.
