Actually, if black plays perfectly, you don't need to take the h pawn at all!
You were right.

Wait, it's 7.
1. Qg6+ Kh8 2. Be5+ Qf6 3. Bxe6 Nd3+ 4. Rxd3 dxe6 5. Bxf6+ Rxf6 6. Rd8+ Rf8 7. Rxf8#Oh check that out, I can copy/paste my moves directly from my board as a nice image.
Anyway, 5. Rd8 in the second line above doesn't work because of 5... Nd7
So the above line is, I think, the best play from both.
What about the sequence "1. Bxe6 dxe6 2. Qxd8 Rxd8 3. Rxd8+"?
The idea behind my topic name is to point out, that those who is greedy like I was in game, going for material lose forced chekmate sequence (like I did).
So in order to play the best moves one needs to be above his/her greediness always seeking for the ultimate goal possibilities in chess.
First moves if played the best ones white even sacrifice a piece (Qg6+ Kh8... Be5+ Qf6... Bxe6 neglecting the pinned queen! )
This silent move is especially beautiful and hard to find - however, it makes the solution quite sofisticated.
Wonder, how many points this problem can get if proposed to community?

1... Rf7 followed by 2... Kf8 and black seems to be escaping.
I guess it would make a very frustrating tactics problem because the tactics happens after the game is won with two perfectly normal moves. After the first two moves there is also a lot of moves that all lead to forced mate. Even after "getting greedy" Bxe6 leads to mate in a few moves.
If he goes Rf6 instead of Qf6 after Be5+, then ...Bxe6 is still the best move: mate in 3 from here: Nd3+ Rxd3 and either ...dxe6
Rxd8#
or ...Qf8
Bxf6+ Qxf6
Qg8#
I'm also glad noone quoted me before I changed a cxd3 to Rxd3 (oops I closed the d file haha)
lol
Heh, got another curious one!
Find the best sequence of moves for white!
Again, try to be not greedy but precise!
2. Qg6!
Puts black in zugzwang. Well, not really since white is crushing regardless of whether black moves or not, but all black's moves allow white to mate quicker.
The power of tea.
