Hello Adriandmen, BigDoggProblem and Rooperi, this is my 52nd Problem. Please check this with an engine to confirm it's soundnessWink. To present the idea more effectively, I have no choice but to use obtrusive (promoted) pieces here.

The position is very complicated and I hope there is no other solution other than the composer's idea.

                            White mates in 2.

Are we supposed to post the solution

Yes, everybody can solve now but again this puzzle is awaiting confirmation. I want to know if there is only one solution.

rooperi

My software cant do this, it has obtrusive pieces.

I haven't got any chess software installed since I bought a mac but Qxe4+ , Nxe4, Ne3# looks like it does the trick

Ok. Thanks, I think Adrian And BDP's software can do it.

No, solver's should not use an engine.

Please try to solve this without using an engine.

And now: 1. Qxe4+ Nxe4 2. Ne3+ Rxe3!

gorgeous_vulture

Ahh yes, that would stop it Laughing

Hi Asorski-

Comp says there is no mate in 2. In particular, 1.0-0 is refuted by 1...Qd4!

What??Surprised

I only consider ...Qe5 and ...Qxd5.

Thanks for the info. This problem has no mate. You are correct, my intended solution is 1. 0-0!! but ...Qd4!!! defends. I need to improve this one. Sorry.Cry

Asorski

Sorry preachingforjesus, the puzzle has no solution as pointed out by BigDoggProblem. My solution is indeed 1. 0-0 but BDP's ...Qd4 defense totally ruins the puzzle!Cry

Checkmate by 2 moves..Rf6+ Nxf6; Ng7+ mate

Asorski

I believe this correction will work as after ...Qd4 2. Nxd4#. Please confirm.

In diagram 1 your first move (1. Rf6+) is not possible. It is illegal. I thought you intended 1. Rg6-f6??

stephen_33

I'm pretty sure that's now correct, Asorski  - I thought 1.Rf1 was good all along but not having an engine to check it, I missed 1...Qd4 at first as the best defense. It's that f6 escape square that's the problem & you've now closed it off !

Surely though, castling as a first move is no good because of 1...Qh1+ ?

Edit:  I see you've scrapped the castling option !

This is what I've got so far ....

1. Rf1 Qd4 1... Nxe6 2. Bxe4# (1... Qxe3+ 2. Nxe3# )

1... Nh52. Qxe4# 1... Nd6 2. Nxg7# )2. Nxd4#

1... Rfxe6 2. Bxe4#

Well, I think you've missed the Bxh1# in the castling key move.

Also, 1. Rf1 Rd4!! (White cannot play 2.Qf4# because of the pin).

Fear_ItseIf

why do your problems have to have so many god damn pieces?.
