@chinmayT:  Why mate in 4 when you could mate in 3?

(Besides, 1.Rd8 doesn't mate in 4).

Nibir2

1.Qxf7+ is forced mate in 3. On the other hand after 1.Rd8 Black is not forced to take on d8.

n9531l

Let's give it a try. I'll play Black. 1.Rxf6 Qd1+.  Your move.

chinmayT

isnt Bxd1 enough? u lose ur queen.. i dont think anyone would continue the game after losing thier queen...

n9531l

They would continue the game if they're trying show someone their awesome 10 moves.

1.Rxf6 Qd1+ 2.Bxd1 gxf6.

chinmayT

the point of the puzzle.. black has no way out either lose the queen or get mated... enough said enough done..

Nibir2

chinmayT was trying to find a way for White to checkmate in less than 10 moves, but gave up after Black's second move.
