To make a "good" puzzle, the defending player has to have made his best move possible. Also, it helps if the puzzle is realistic.
Your 1st puzzle is completely unrealistic, and the 2nd "puzzle" is totally avoidable if black had captured with the knight instead of the pawn.
gimmewhachugot; That puzzle is 'cool and all' but it's just much more efficient to promote to queen in this case.

The knight is pinned to the king, so black can't capture with the pawn. Really the only bad thing about the puzzle is the awkwardness of having 3 black rooks on; other than that, it's a fine (albeit incredibly easy) puzzle.
