you played it right but can u please show how it would be perpetual check if you promote on the first move? I dont see it

There is nothing wrong with playing b8=Q on the first move. There is no perpetual check. There is not even a check for black.
If Black plays 1...Qf3 then White wins the Black Queen with 2. Qbb7+.

After1.b8=Q Qf3 2.Q(a/b)b7+ wins the queen.

I sat down to eat lunch thinking about the post I made, and realized what a terrible blunder I had made!! haha
