When I first saw this game I contemplated that 2. Ne3 might have been better, if white indeed saw the threat from the rook.

However: 2...Ne3 3. Rxc3! - bxRc3 (Threat on c1 is still eminent) 4. Bxc3 - Rd3 (only place to preserve his rook 5. b2
