Ok can someone send me the link or directions to the instructions for tactics? I thought it was just a scenario where you are a set amount of moves till checkmate and you needed to figure it out, but that doesn’t seem true.

Each one is different but the goal is to achieve some decisive advantage. It may be a checkmate but it also may be just winning a piece.
For example in this problem, you can win a piece:
