how can this be reached in the least no. of moves?

I think the number is less than that. My guess at the moment is 32 (though it might even be less).

Well, there have to be AT LEAST 30 moves (1 move to capture a piece). Also, you can't capture any pieces on move 1, so that brings the minimum up to 31. I also doubt there is a way to capture a piece EVERY move after the first, so I will take a guess and say 35.

I got 21 moves, possibly less though.

deep rybka 3 can do it in only 8 moves

obviously, as there are 30 pieces that need to be eliminated, it is impossible to do it in less than 15 moves, 16 since no captures are possible on the first move.

igot 25 trying to push to the center I think trading the rooks for the queens might give an interesting try but I dont have the patience...
