i was just thinking like instead of the crazy king journey you do 

10.rg1 e5 11.rh1 bb4 and bounce the rook around. but the tempi dont work

I noticed a slight improvement at the end, starting after move 83 of my position.

I know a White to play and win study where, in order to win, the king has to make seven moves to get back to the starting position with Black to play. But this proof game is the only one I've seen where a king has to make a 13-move trek to lose a move.
