Shortest-proof-game challenge
Here's proof that it's legal. Someone just needs to shorten it. I'm hoping EvinSung will tell how short it needs to be.
@6388
White must have captured 3 times: bxc3, gxf3, hxg3.
There are 3 black pieces missing: a rook, a knight, and a bishop.
Ra8 might have exited to the 3rd rank via the e-file, but only after ...exf6.
Bc8 might have gone Bb7-Bf3 to enable gxf3, but only after ...b6.
...b6 can only be played after Bc1-Ba3-Bc5-Ba7-Bb8 and Bf8-Bc5-Ba7, but those are only possible after bxc3 and ...exf6.
...fxg6 is only posible after Bf1-h3-f5-g6, only posible after gxf3 i.e. after ...b6
exf6 is only possible after Rh1-Rh4-Rf4-Rf6 i.e. after hxg3
Thus illegal indeed.
oops I think that’s illegal
All White's captures were made by the bgh pawns. The c8 bishop was still at home when the other bishops reached b8 and a7, so the a8 rook never got out but has managed to leave the board without being captured.
Illegal indeed.
This one’s legal, but it’s not easy to get there.
i could only improve this by 2
