Simple Endgame Tactics
Sort:
Bishop pairs are tactically very useful in the end game. Try them out in this puzzle.
Good Puzzle; another, quicker solution:
1. a8=Q+ Ka8 2. Ka6 h1=Q 3. b7#
yeh sorry your right. that would be quicker NM tony. I realised mate would be there if the king was at c6. and you could do it in two steps!.
Or 1... Bh3 h1=Q 2... a8=Q+ Kxa8 3... Ka6! Qxh3 4... b7#

If white plays 3 Ka6, Black plays 3... f7, which negates the mate on b7
oh right yeh im wrong again -_-

I am a bit confused here at the moment, isn't this a bit better ?
1.a8=Q+ Kxa8 2.Kc6 exf1=Q ( or h1=Q is doesn't matter) 3.b7+ Ka7 4.b8=Q+ Ka6
5.Qa8#
