smiley15 (Post #18) your line isn't winning after Bxb1 and .....Bxb1 it is a draw after (a forced) ....g6 (see puzzle move list)
instead the answer is this:
In post #16, I thought it was going to be a mate in 2 starting with 1. Bxe5+. I wonder if there was supposed to be a pawn on h2? Or a knight? The combination does look nice though.
Yes , there is pawn on h2 , sorry - my mistake .Thanks , Einstein-69101.
I will try to edit directly on the post #16.
I edited it , but moves disappeared somewhere...
By the way , Einstein-69101 , do you think black can win this position :
I would try 1...h5, and see if I can get that pawn closer to promotion. Black's rook will have to try to stop that pawn. I might consider sacrificing the e-pawn to help march the other pawns foward. It does seem like black can win. Black must stay away from a perpetual check. 1...Kf5 does look like another interesting try.
I must thank you, that you pointed at this possibility .Here there are very interesting positions .Now I see white king can go to the left side
Here white king is nearer to the pawns and the things are more difficult for black.I feel they must win but am wondering how .
Actually, I meant 1. Rcc8 g5, to remove the mating threat.
I must say puzzle #17 belongs to F.Bondarenko.
Posting it i didn't pay attention to possibility 1.Rcc8 ,at which pointed Elroch, and after this move appeared new interesting lines.
Daxternator, in puzzle #17 1.Rh8+ really wins.
Just from curiosity we are looking what can happen after 1.Rcc8.
Looks like the crucial flaw in my claim is that g5 wins for black.
