Good catch. Thanks for the insight. It makes this a pretty lame puzzle, but you're right, that would have been a much better play.

3. Qxf7+ Kh6 4. Rh3+ Qh5 5. Qf8+ Kg5 6. Nf3+ Kg4 7. Rg3# is also a nice way to mate.
Also, black could have delayed the mate in your solution with 5. Qh6. So it is a mate in 7 with lordbobbetti's improvement, or with the line I gave here.

I think I left the Knight on the board by accident, but since this is a puzzle and not a game, oh well.

where can i buy the game. i mean how often are you gona be faced with those exact same terms in a game, and i wanted to move my bishop before taking that last pawn with my rook and would have ended up with the same results. But it is nice to know how to handel myself if im ever in the same position lordbobbettis was in
This isn't so much a puzzle as just an interesting mate from one of my recent games. It's more-or-less forced, since any variations Black could follow lead to very bad positions...
