What is this that makes you like chess? Is it adrenaline, strategic play, feeling that you are better than your opponent etc.,what is it that makes players so passionate about chess?

I've been playing computer-games since a long time. But I always felt that aside from a few exceptions they became more and more dumbed down or consisted of repetative tasks with little to no thinking involved at all.

Then, just recently, I rediscovered chess and found it to be totally superior to almost all of the PC-games when it comes to how much your mind matters in it.

@Xilmi ...it is true that chess is totally superior to pc games and also think that chesss is game that can be played with AIR...when you reach a certain level you can play a whole game without even seeing the board, just remembering the moves

I live for chess I aim to play as beautifully as I can like the old masters Adolph Anderssen and Henry Bird use to.

I like games with 4th of July fireworks and ;lots of tactics like Marshall and Tal use to light up the board with when the board explodes I'm in my element.

You know, it's pretty hilarious that playing chess is one of the very few things I do well, even though in chess circles I'm just not considered at all good at the gameLaughing

I like it because it requires logic and creativity.  I like exercising my brain in that way.

And I think it's great because it is complex enough such that it's not mathematically solved yet.  People are still finding new lines and variations, etc.

Also, it's not like other games that have a significant element of luck in them.  You have to make right moves and won't be bailed out by, say, a "joker" card or some other random element of luck.  So, it forces you to think well.

And, finally, it's fun!  Tongue Out
