Aborting welcome-games

I hope this is the right place to post this...

It happends very often to me, that the unrated welcome-games ends after the new chess.com-member have made 1-3 moves. Then I can't abort the game and have to wait three days to my opponent runs out of time... During that time, they take one of the places for new members that can play against me and I get a totaly useless game in my archieve... could we get better possibilities for aborting these welcome-games or other sollution to the problems?

You could always resign if you felt certain that they weren't going to make another move.

Ofcourse, that is a sollution to one of the issues... maybe it is irrational, but somehow I don't want to resign in a game that I surely should win... specialy not when it is archieved.

If I used resign, I would play a lot more welcome-games, and since most of them ends with my opponent stop playing, I would get a significant number of resigned-by-me-games in my archieve (but aborted games do not end there)... Smile

So I would prefere to have an extended aborting-possibility in the welcome-games (but I'm not going to stop playing them if I don't get it - I could just play a lot more of them, if it were there).

The welcome games do not affect your ratings or records so resigning seems like a reasonable solution to me.

I've decided NOT to play any more welcome games. Out of 22, there has not been a single player to finish a game. Why is this? I don't get it.

I completely agree with bjering.  I've played 44  welcome games.  I've enjoyed some of these, but only a few were completed.  I don't mind playing beginners and enjey helping them.  Only a couple have asked me for instruction.  More than half make 0 or 1 move, then nothing.  I abort the 0's after 24 hours and just resigned one where 2 moves were made, then nothing for 36 hours.

I suggest these be 24 hour games, not 3 day games.  They clog up the screen and keep other newcomers from getting to play.  I resent having to 'resign' to abort

one day/move welcome games is a good compromise i think.

I think the newbies are just checking the system. I had a number of these type situations. I removed my self from the Welcome Wagon. I am not a very good player, but I can sure help someone new to the site learn how to get around, but I don't want a bunch of 2 move games cluttering the field.

lol the exact oppisite happened to me, because instead of running out of time in my welcoming game my 'welcomer' ran out of time. I was gonna win the game too XD
