Is being diamond a curse?

I saw that with few exceptions that former platinum/gold members who became diamond tended to be more abusive by a long shot than before they upgraded.

I have only ever had a diamond membership. Do you think downgrading would help me to be a little nicer?

WindowsEnthusiast

I haven't observed the reverse of this.

But I only asked you what you thought, not what you had observed. Please pay closer attention. So what do you think?

WindowsEnthusiast

it's pretty obvious that I conclude that it's not going to improve.

That seems kind of negative. Could we try looking on the bright side for a change?

A bit of a generalization don't you think? How many have you spoken and played against?

In my opinion, the person is most likely that way no matter what membership they have you just haven't noticed until after as much.

I suggest we start a truly rigorous experiment to prove if your anecdotal observances form a good hypothesis. Find a number of platinum and gold members that are currently not very abusive, buy them diamond memberships (anonymously as possible) and then monitor their level of abusiveness. You could even start a group so people can vote as to whether those tested become more abusive.

I volunteer for the first round of testing Money mouth

I think that's a well-documented syndrome called, "spoiled."  Your science if flawed.

I volunteer too... The testing should be rewarded with lifetime membershibs

I think that I have gotten nicer, or have had no change since I upgraded to Gold... I could not downgrade myself it feels too good here... I think in general that diamond members are a little lording, maybe throwing their weight around, but I use the block button!

Presumably you're talking about non-titled players who upgraded to diamond.

Also, can you shed some light as to what might be at work here? Is your theory as simple as "hey I paid more so I can be more rude"? Sort of the same theory which would expect fans in more expensive seats to heckle more?

It's just a trend, not a theory. There is only 1 abusive titled player I know of.
