Issues with Pre-Selected Openings/Turn-based games

Greetings.

My first wish/concern does not have to do with the latest changes, but rather I'd hoped it would have been part of the progression in Chess.com's format. When playing a turn-based game based on a selected opening from the generously populated list, can we please have the opening's moves SHOW in the notation area? Some of us are still learning Smile and it would be an immeasurable help to see that opening's moves in front of us, preceding the notation of our own moves.  We should be able to click back on it and "replay" the moves, like all the others, as it transposes into our own chosen moves.

ALERT: NOW in the new format, not even the name of the pre-selected opening shows onscreen!!! Frown That is very disturbing and I hope it is remedied soon along with addition of each opening's moves in the notation window.

All the best,

Lady Crysania

Another issue: Free players now have only one day turnaround time in turn-based games..this affects those who play with them as well.  I wish they could at least have up to 3 days.

If this is true, this really needs to change!  Trying to play with friends who have not yet (keyword: yet) seen the benefit of a premium membership would be very difficult.

Additionally, if after losing based on time, they get discouraged, they may never upgrade.

I'm afraid it IS true, and I've already had to cease playing with some people because of it.

That doesn't agree with what I see. I have in particular a game started April 9th with a free player and it's a 7-day per turn game. I also have one started April 17 (after your previous post) with a free player that's 5 days per turn. How did you figure that 1-day limit? (These are just two I picked at random, nothing special about the games themselves :-)

Also note that there is (or at least used to be) a setting in your profile (or somewhere else) which would let you limit the days-per-move of games you would accept as "game invites". Maybe you inadvertertently set that limit at one day?

OK, I'll check..I never changed (or knew about) that setting but maybe it got reset? I got a message that said something like, free members can only have 24 hrs for turn based games, and it would not let me start a new game with a friend for 3 days per move (that's when I got the message).  Now, I DO have an ongoing game that was started before the chess.com changes...that one is still "as is", but I assumed (yes I know) Smile that it must have applied to all new games.  I'll try again..but I really DID get that message! Smile

My apologies to all; it was a setting the other individuals had recently changed in their preferences.  Good to know we at least still have the option of playing however many days-per-move we choose.
