Then don't bloody start Chess Games near when you KNOW you are going to be in the middle of nowhereland for a month straight?

I would be livid playing against people like you who only purchase membership in order to abuse a full 3 months of vacation time against me after making a single move.

You can also limit yourself to 3 days a move games, where the hell would anyone be for more than 3 days at a time without an internet connection where 14 days worth of vacation time won't see them through it.

Firstly I have complained to staff before - now 18 months ago - about auto-vacation kicking in 90 mins before a move is due and losing 24 hours "vacation" and was promised this would be fixed to a closer time. It is a particular frustration when you are actually online but completing urgent business. Some on here must recognise that chess is not the whole of most people's lives.

Secondly as a premium member I agree with others that one of the main reasons for Premium membership was the acquisition of a block of days for vacation. Mine too kicked in on renewal last year and I have not been advised of any change prior to my renewal this year, which I may now reconsider. Again - actual vacations, short or long, should involve and for me often do there being no need to access technology. A literal meaning of vacation would be to be empty of such distractions.

If chess.com have changed vacation allocations are they going to change the wording on settings because no-one will be able to go on "vacation".

I already limit myself for 3 days or more per move games...

I need to relax most of my weekends...

For months I've been playing only team matches league games...

Probably, I'll be able to take 30 days with no game going on at the end of the year... but it's impossible to grant that, cause there will be a last team match league round starting at october 1st and my games use to go for more than 2 months...

Yes, I'm a slow player, and chess dot com isn't my whole life...

Moreover, I used all my less than 30 vacation days last year, plus all days I receive on days 1st and 15th of each month not on vacation... and I renewed this year in January expecting to receive the usual renewal extra vacation days...

But site changed without a note, and now I'm surviving with those days I receive on days 1st and 15th of each month, if I'm not on vacation that day...

So, again, I need my usual extra vacation days at renewal... and I want it...

And I'm not an abuser... I don't think my opponent is forced to play at the pace which fits my ansiety... any opponent I have can play at their own pace... I really don't mind... they're free and I respect that...

And a question: what is easier to manage, (1) to get all your games finished till the date you want to start your vacations, or (2) wait your opponent enjoy their 30/60/90 days of vacation to resume playing?..

And yes people like me loves to enjoy life and vacations...

And sincerely I really don't care if any strange guy with no living are everyday here, in chess dot com, anxious for me to come back to resume playing, or for my vacation days empty for him to win by timeout...

So, again, I need, I want my usual renewal vacation days...

If I weren't SA for Team Brazil, if I didn't care about all my country teammates, if I didn't mind if Team Brazil performance in World League, maybe I could say, "it's only a game"...

Different from some, I'm the kind of captain who remain on board till the end...

I think there is more of a underlying issue that people have missed here! Its what benefits now do you get for paying £100 a year, to the benefits of paying nothing???

Avatar of Ziggyblitz
I've over 2 months vacation left, so obviously accumulated days must carry over. It does seem that chess.com had the most generous vacation allowance, apart from net-chess where days per move accumulate, resulting in some very slow games.

Lots of paying members work, and sometimes only get to the board on weekends, and that is why they need vacation. And off course some people just abuse the system altogether! You all must remember not everyone just moves like me. Some people really study there matches, and should be entitled to that if paying!

And changes to the deal should be flagged up publicly.

Nice thread, but deceiving title. Your not getting NO vacation time; your just not getting as much as before. So chess.com is like gas stations, banks, and Social Security. Remember when you could retire at 62 with FULL benifits?  Remember when banks gave FREE calendars at the end of the year? I agree with Figgy20000, but I fell bad for the OP with chronic health issues. If your in the hospital for up to 30 days, a nurse or administrator CAN'T lend you a tablet or ipad??

Yeah no kidding, unless you are in extreme circumstances where you are an astronaut on a Space Station or in the middle of an African jungle where the nearest town is 100 miles away or some crap you seriously can't access your internet for over a month a year in between 3 days a move games? I can't imagine a scenario where it's anything but abuse that people are asking for more.

Undecided

I think it's more the fact that he has paid expecting the vacation and now he's not got it.

Avatar of Equaliser769

Exactly that. To loyal members of anything, if you want to change the terms and conditions it would be polite to consult, but should be essential to offer some form of notice pre-renewal.

And I won't say nothing more... if people think who wants to have 30 days of vacation is an abuser, better just to stay with my mouth shut...

But I still want my extra-vacation days as it was usual at renewal... I need them...
