Video Checklist?

Is there any way we could have a video checklist?  I want to watch nearly every video here but I was thinking it would be really nice if we could get some kind of checklist.  Basicly I don't want to sift through all the video's to get to the one I want to watch, or to say "agh.. did I watch this one already?" and have to click-wait-watch a few seconds or more to see if I've watched it.  So maybe either some kind of system that highlights the ones I've watched/haven't, or some kind of list of "Video's to watch" That would simple clear out a video after I've watched it.

ahhh well-rounded - that could be called :   excel  and you keep track of things you have watched, things you want to see again, and those you found lacking and stopped after 2 minutes.

(that is my solution).

Quipped Retguvvie. :)

Yeah that's the current system for me, but I'm just trying to be the voice of the people! Not really but I try to bring up any Ideas that come to mind in case there are others who feel they would benefit or would like to add to it.  Plus excel forces you to check a list to see if you've watched it yet.

I agree, a checklist on the site would be nice. Something as simple as a check mark next to any video that had been watched would be great.

I would like to add my two cents here as well - a video checklist would be nice.

A checklist seems like a pretty basic feature that should be available.  Glad to see others asking for this...

Can I take it a step further?  How about the ability to start a video where you left off?  You know, like Netflix.

Of course, Retguvvie.  The point here is convenience.

One can also keep a list of videos they have watched.  It just isn't convenient.

To me, one of the biggest selling points of this site is to save study time.  I find it faster and more enjoyable using the powertools here rather than breaking out a book.  I have a good library of chess books, but they mostly gather dust.

Books are a useful but outdated method of learning chess.  Video is a more modern approach, and chess mentor is even better.  The tactics trainer is more useful to me than a tactics book:  it is with me on my phone anytime.  It is all about convenience.

So if Chess.com can make the learning tools here more convenient, I hope they will.  My overworked mouse will thank them...Laughing

Humbly submitted...

lol, over a year later this idea is still strong. :)

There's no real reason to suggest this is unecessary or not worth it.  Any suggestions along the lines of "just keep a list at your desk or excel" Obviously overlook the point.  By the same logic, we could "just play over the board" or "just get a chess tutor."  It's simply a matter of whether or not someone wants to do the programming or more likely, spend the money on the programming.

Wellrounded and others:  do not throw stuff at me for suggesting a method YOU could use for your own convenience.  Until the system changes, instead of asking for change, and sitting around waiting for it to happen, get busy, use your own system of tracking the videos you watched, and survive in a better manner than just waiting.

Nothing was directed at you personally, and until I went back and read the nearly 2 year old post, I wasn't sure how you took it like that.  The point was just that an idea has been presented, a staff member has likely looked at it and that's that.  You're suggestions are appreciated, but I just thought the concept was too elementary than to require alternatives.  As for "sitting around waiting" It's probably worth noting that I could write what's required to include this little feature, but this isn't my website to program.  Many moons ago I just thought I'd throw out something that I suspected many people would like.  A new feature on top of the mountain of great tools already here.  So to sum up RetGuv, no offense intended by that last post.

I just went to Help & Support asking for a checkmark for videos. :)

Firefox [+ greasemokey] users: This was driving me mad also so I made a really simple greasemonkey script to do it. Just copy the video title into the little array at the beginning of the script [the script already contains examples] then it will mark them read on the page for you.

I'm not a programmer and have no idea how big the array can get before it breaks but it's working ok so far for me.

If you don't know greasemonkey it's easy to do, feel free to ask. Easier than using Excel I would say.

EDIT: Been using for a while and have watched lots of vids and it works really well. But have noticed that some video lessons have inverted commas in their titles which breaks the code. To fix this add a backslash before the comma.

So

The Art of "Tempo Moves" in Chess - Part 2

gets entered as

"The Art of \"Tempo Moves\" in Chess - Part 2"

and all is well.

Vote for it, list of Favorites or Starred videos could be really helpful.
