80% Blitz at 700?

I’m playing pretty consistent 80 percent accuracy at blitz. I’m rated 700 and confused why I’m not progressing out of lower levels? Would love some feedback from people who know what they’re doing.

I have no idea

Did you check where you lost the games or did you only look at accuracy percentages?

Why don’t we play an unrated game and I’ll give you some advice.

Sure, but I doubt I’ll be able to today, thx

You are NOT consistently playing at 80% stop the cap. In order to improve, you must first look at the mirror and be honest with urself, stop being in denial to why ur losing and not advancing in rating.

That was harsh lol, I don’t mind tho I like honest advice

The real reason most of my games look so bad is because I play in school a lot and try to move faster to avoid being forced to time out by the teacher. On leisure time I almost always get 75-85, with the occasional 65 or 90

Well here's some more honest advice kid. Stop playing stupid games in school and focus on your studies. Do you want to be 30 years old working at McDonald's because you didn't pay attention in school? If what you say is true and you do play a lot better in your "leisure" time, then perhaps you should only play when you can focus on chess and your rating will improve. If i play when im tired or not really focused on chess my ratings will plummet.

XD

You’re right about school of course, but there are still times when I’m finished with everything early.

Thanks for the advice everyone. If i do happen to be the next sindarov I’m sure my blitz rating will improve.

Thanks everyone.

Accuracy isn't the most reliable factor at our level because it's relative to how your opponent plays, for example if your opponent blunders early and you just trade pieces, your accuracy would easily be 85%+ because the bests moves were obvious, so a relatively high accuracy at 700 rating just means you aren't missing most of the pieces your opponent is hanging, and as ratings go higher, your opponent isn't going to hang pieces as much so yeah don't focus on that 80% accuracy right now, it's just a feel-good kinda stat rn

Actually, I'm rated 1900 and I sometimes have less than 70% accuracy — like a recent game where I had ~%. So accuracy and rating have a non-linear relationship..

Yeah

It really depends on the level of complexity in the position

Lower rated players playing often results in simple positions. In simple positions, it is easier to get higher accuracy since there are many good moves and your opponent doesn’t forces you to play accurate. I believe 80% is a normal score, even for 3000+ rated players. Intuition is important for blitz. Better intuition means better blitz performance. Unfortunately I don’t know how to improve your intuition other than playing much to learn the patterns.

Agreeing with the last comment, low rated players play openings where the best moves are easy to find, like in the Italian, London, and Scotch. On the other hand, try playing at 80% accuracy in the Najdorf, Grunfeld, or Benko Gambit.
