This weekend I played in two chess tournaments! One on Friday in Salem, Oregon and one for the weekend on Saturday and Sunday in Portland, Oregon. Let me tell you about my tournament on Friday. It was the Oregon All-Stars! In my section, everyone was around my rating. I won my first game against the top player, a 1732! Then I beat a 1682! Since this tournament was a quad, I was actually leading the tournament by one point, so if I drew my last game, I would be clear first! In my last game, I quickly got a worse position and offered a draw. He accepted the draw, and then I was clear first and I won $45! Then, I played in the other tournament. I played in the U1800, and I won my first two games. Then I drew a game, which really was nice because I had a terrible position and he was 200 points lower than me! Then I was tied with 4 other people, meaning if I won and the other two people drew, I would win the first place prize of $143! I beat the number two player because he blundered his queen! Then I went and played soccer with my dad. When I came back, the game had finished and they had drawn! I had just won first place! I was very happy with this weekend and I doubt I will ever have such a good weekend ever again!
