You are the one being rude and inconsiderate. You have no idea what caused said person to go on vacation mode. Maybe he got sick. Maybe he broke his arm. Maybe he received an extra load of work to do. Life is unpredictable and that is EXACTLY what vacation time is for.

Next time, join No Vacation tournaments and please stop acting so immaturely.

In many cases, players don't know when the tournament will begin.

That's not the reason why people use their vacation time. People start a bazillion games at the same time and then use their vacation time to prevent them from timing out. If you don't have the time to play a bazillion games at once, don't start them.Β

I really hate the vacation policy here, and I usually don't play in tournaments, simply because I don't want to spend the rest of my life waiting for one person to use up all their time. And so the tournaments are even more filled with people who spend several months on a single game.

But apparently it's rude to expect someone to spend at most 3 days on a turn in a 3-day game.

People playing too many games is usually the main driver behind slowing down tournies. I would like to see chess.com implement some type of hard stop on the number of active games a player can have. That number would be tied to your average time per move. Once you reach 36 hours (not sure what the correct number should be) you are locked out from joining any new tournies or games. Being able to play unlimited games is a serious problem.

Why is it a serious problem?

Just move in the games where is your turn and forget about the other ones.

Why do you get worried about finishing some set of games in an specified time?Β

And it has been suggested here too, you can always join No Vacation tournaments.

Seriously.

I'm playing a guy, 7 days, who moves exactly after 6 days 12 hours. Tbh, I haven't seen that (simul) game for over a month due to conditional moves. Am I mad? Well, it's irritating but I will never say to him to speed up. Because I agreed to that time control and rules. Fck it, learn to live!
