Indeed, it would be really nice to know the advanced entries, which other tournaments seem to always post. So why aren't they posting them? Strange.

I would prefer to see the list of entries too, but I expect that very soon once they make that go/no-go decision we'll see the list. Not very worried about that issue with so far to go till tournament start time. I'm very happy to be registered for this exciting and historic event.

I'm sure I'll see a list long before the tournament starts. It's not going to be a very meaningful list at the beginning anyway, and this is to someone like me who has actually signed up. The list is a lot less meaningful to those who haven't signed up yet.

True. But I was thinking more about the goal of 1,000 being met. If they have 900 for instance, then shouldn't they say so. It might encourage 100 others to sign up. On the other hand, if only 500 have registered, then I can understand why there is no news about it.

Why are you so worried? I put in my $1000 and I'm not worried, and you put nothing in and you're freaking out? What's wrong with this picture? Worst case I get my money back. I have no risk. Why are you so neurotic?

If he's that worried then don't enter the doggone tournament. This is not rocket science, which I'm quite familiar with. It's not even chess. What the hell is your problem?

Can't help but agree with NTruths on this one, Jonesmurphy. You come across as confrontational. People don't have to justify their interest to you; nor do they require your permission. So maybe calm down a bit. Have a nice day.

I come across as confrontational, because someone went into a rage over an entry list for a tournament which is over 6 months away, and for which a decision will be made in a week? I don't have to justify my contempt for the petulant and absurd attitude you share with NTruths, nor do I require your permission. Cute baby.

No, we don't all have the same interest at all. Some of us have entered the tournament and have taken pro-active steps to make it happen. Others have absolutely no ability to afford the entry fee, and are in a rage and will just snipe from the sidelines hoping the tournament fails.

This thread was started to discuss information about the number of entries, not as a platform for you to demonstrate your lack of netiquette. I know your type very well. So go ahead and "rage on" and maybe at some point, when you calm down, take a long hard look in the mirror. There lies your enemy. I won't be responding to you any more; I hope you have a great day.

There was no information, so there was nothing to discuss. The people I took issue with weren't discussing any information. I know your type very well: you lie a lot and make obviously false statements. Have a great day with your cute baby.

NTruths and anpu3, great news! They have published their list:

They need 1,000 signed up, right? Well it seems that so far they have 65. Yep, 65. Looks like this is turning out to be a huge flop.

omg that's a disaster XD even magnus carlsen won't waste his time on that tournament. A 7 years old kid has registered lol

Yes, because the 7 year old kid is my son and we both father and son registered for the event, expecting the other chess players will also come around to make it happen. It would be a lifetime experience for the 7 year old kid to be part of a big event like this, if it takes place.
And he is good enough to play in Under 1400 section of any USCF rated tournament.

Well I hope a miracle occurs and that it still happens. I for one would like to see it happen. Ashikuzzaman, congrats to your son for being such a strong player! That's awesome.

bakersfield-blitzer notice about a third of the 60 odd are GM's. You must be a super GM to be that much smarter than these GM's. We should play some time for a lot of money, though it sounds like you cannot even afford enough for this tournament. TheRocketKing the top 7-year old in the US is 1840, so there are many 7-year olds capable of winning the lower sections in this and any tournament. What's your rating now, and what was it when you were 7?
Link to the results would be nice also.
