Because you could lie about your uscf rating
USCF rated tourneys
Because you could lie about your uscf rating
Before joining the tourney, you'll have to give your USCF ID and pin example my ID is 14321266 and they'll look it up so there can be no lying.
oh, but they would have to be no vacation, and how do they prevent you from using a computer
No-one can prevent someone from using a computer. Perhaps make it even strickter. Thoes who cheat in USCF rated toureys get banned from this site forever and from the USCF.
It is very difficult for a website to meet USCF standards for rated play. They offer USCF rated quick events on Worls Chess Live. I played in several about five years ago. Most of my club mates say they distrust the web for rated play, but as I picked up 200 points, they don't complain much.
USCF offers their own correspondence, although I don't think many people play it much anymore with so many websites like this one.

That would require 100% accurate detection methods plus enforcement of such a ban would be quite challenging.
Not really. Chess.com knows all the secrets to detecting a cheater. And 99.99% if not 100% of the time...THEY'RE CORRECT!
The site is Chess.com, the pool of players is Chess.com, the ratings are Chess.com, how does USCF get involved in all this?
Must be a slow news week.

They'll work it out so you'll recieve USCF ratings as well as chess.com ratings.
Pardon my honesty,
I hear many of the American players on this site say that the USCF is badly run (remember the recent and ongoing(?) Polgar controvesy?). Why would you want them to spread their influence here? I'm sure Erik has more sense than that.

Well, I never had any issue with it. Polgar allegedly hacked into the USCF computers from my understanding. I heard hacking was pretty easy if you know how to do it.

Oh well, if it's okay with you then it must be okay for everyone.
btw... what is it exactly that you hope to gain from this? an increase in your OTB rating by playing on the web? OTB ratings are achieved OTB, it does what it says on the tin. Or do you seek some USFC correspondence rating? as Ziryab has already pointed out, there already exists places for that. Please explain what we as members (many of us non-US citizens) will gain from this idea.

I hope to gain nothing. www.worldchesslive.com has USCF rated tourneys.
Yes, worldchesslive.com has USCF rated tournaments. Good for them. According to their site, the games are at a time control of 3 2--meaning three minutes for the game with two seconds added per move. If you want to base your USCF quick rating off of that, be my guest.
I don't really think anyone gains from adding something similar to that to this website. The people that don't give a rip about USCF certainly don't gain anything, and the people that play USCF tournaments for rating would be better served by the time controls offered in an OTB tournament.
I agree, who would want their OTB rating polluted by some creep, thousands of miles away, playing with engine assistance? The mind truly boggles.

Why can't we have official USCF rated tourneys here on chess.com? I think that would attrackt more members from the USCF side.
