I agree with what you say. But I think it is a bit of a stretch to assume RL would beat MC in CC. Not that it couldn't happen, of course.
Yes, the new application has an option to go 3 plys (2 moves) ahead with Explorer for each game. Very nice and useful addition. Already have 2 sharp openings I have no idea how to play, because I only followed some book moves.
