How quick is quick?!! Will they affect my ratings as I'm prone to silly mistakes when I'm in a rush!
If you think your games take ages to play, wait until you get into a tournament.

Eddie is right, if you think the games you're playing now are slow, I would recommend NOT joining any tournaments (especially if the slow games are a cause of annoyance). Continental drift means Australia will have bumped into America by the time the 6th chess.com tournament is over.
While many tournaments do drag on forever, search tournaments and you can find some with short limits on the time per move and a small number of entrants.
Woluld love to play in my 1st tournament but according to chess.com I must complete 5 on-line games before being accepted to the 6th chess.com tournament. Why is this? My games take ages to play! I joined in January, most games are 20+ moves and can take up to 3 days for my opponent to make a move. Can't really play live chess as I'm a busy mum! When will the next tournament be?
