When I created this group/club it was meant to be a workspace only, for me to prepare these pages, and when I had finished them I planned to copy them into the 1...g6 Modern Defense group (g6MD) forum to be viewed there by the members. I did not plan on having members here in this group. I didn't think anybody would want to join a group such as this. I am doing this with some other books as well and now and then someone would want to join those book groups, almost by accident it seemed. At first I would tell them no, but as it happened more often I decided to allow it and let them decide for themselves, if they wanted to remain. Later it struck me that if I made this group "public", that I could simply provide a link from the g6MD group to this group and members could view these pages, and that I could eliminate a lot of clutter in the g6MD group forum, making more room for member contributed topics. So, I welcome you and thank you for your interest in this project. I work on it as time allows. This is an outgrowth of my personal method of studying chess books. I will compile a list for myself of the games which are analyzed by the author with links to a database version of the game so that I can follow the author's analysis move by move with the diagram right before me. Having already compiled the list, it is simply a matter of formatting it to make it available for other people, That is what you see here.
Copyright These are only the games and none of the author's annotations. This is NOT an attempt to recreate the book and make it available for free. I totally respect copyright and I believe we must all respect copyright or a project such as this will not be allowed to remain in place. I urge you all to contribute comments wherever appropriate. Such comments may include brief quotes from the book as well as your own thoughts. But please don't get carried away with quoting the author extensively.
Databases name vs name = link ** indicates a game referenced in the book which cannot be found in online databases Whenever possible I provide a link to the ChessTempo version of the numbered example games because the ChessTempo Explorer is a very useful and powerful analytical tool. However, if the user does not have a paid membership at ChessTempo they will only be able to explore the first 10 moves. The sideline games are linked to the Chessbites database website because it is free and the user can play through the entire game. Chessbites is the largest free database available on the www. It is updated weekly. I do not use the chess.com database because it is difficult and time-consuming to find games using the player's names with the current search utility, and also because it is a small database and the explorer is bug ridden. If those features ever improve then I will link to the chess.com database.
Updates I have already created all the pages for the contents, chapters and the individual numbered example games, so it is unlikely that I will create very many new pages. When I post a new game diagram on it's already existing page you will not receive any kind of notification. I am doing this chapter by chapter, so when I post a new chapter of diagrams I will submit a new comment below on "this" page. So if you check to track this page you will receive a notification. I am usually motivated to submit new games according to the variation we are playing in our most recent vote chess game in the g6MD club.
Thanks for joining and I hope you find this project useful.
