Hello Laki_69.
This version of Chess.com (V2) will be shutting down on September 30th. 98% of our members are using the new site and we need to focus on one platform for the future. We hope the new Chess.com (V3) will continue to be your chess home. We appreciate your feedback and have worked hard to address many of the issues you have shared. Please consider taking this short survey to help us solve the remaining issues you may have with the new site.
Sincerely, the Chess.com Team

I honestly did not expect it so fast Undecided

Sorry. I know this is disappointing for some of you. I wish it were more possible to keep both. We are working hard to address any remaining issues. Please do send your feedback!

erik,

The main remaining issue is one that has NOT been taken care of yet....SPEED!

Please read your own words>>>

I know that V3 is too slow for some people. It's a mix of hardware, browser, etc. But that doesn't matter. It's MY fault it's too slow. And we will not shut down V2 until this is fixed! We are currently working on slimming down the JavaScript and using a new library (Vue instead of Angular). So if V3 is slower than V2 for you, then I don't blame you for being mad! I have a really old laptop that I use for testing, and when I have to use V3 on it, it's just too frustrating. So, I hear you on this and I'm sorry! It's our TOP priority.

Yep. Still working HARD on it!

Avatar of BISHOP_e3

Thank you for working hard on it.

I assume that if the Speed issue is not resolved by Sept. 30th, that v2 will not be shut down.

speed is not the only big issue... it's look is too. And yet v4 will look like v3... clearly not a fix.

but still, there are more bells and whistles being added all the time...

v3 is still painfully slow for me.  And its just v3 of chess.com.

Its not my ISP.  Its not my browser.  Its not my CPU or RAM or cache.  Its v3.

Once v2 is turned off, I'm not sure how long I'll last.

Nail hit firmly on the head...however much I try, it is just a horrible experience in V3.

Once V2 goes and no comparison is possible, then perhaps we will all forget the difference and adapt?

I can't criticize Erik's decision though; chess.com is a business and he is making a business decision that he should have made months ago.

A business decision that will cost him more than a few avid users, I'm afraid.

I just did a performance test of loading Commander_Riker's profile page in my browser, v2 versus v3.

Because I cleared all my cache to create a rather even circumstance, v2 loaded it in ~14 seconds (& actually loaded more data than v3 did, I assume v2's ads were slightly larger).  v3 took over 90 seconds.  Who wants to wait over a minute for a frikkn profile page to load??

I understand and agree, but business is about revenue and a relatively small number of dissenters mean nothing in the overall scheme of things.

Anyway, let's all go and play some meaningless new variant that has been dreamt up by the site Cry

When I'm 83, it might fully load and render in my browser.

I'm not sure, either.

I intend to renew for a quarter and see if I can handle V3 for everything.

As much as I will miss V2, I must say  that I have really gotten used to V3 and love it. The design is a really nice modern feel and it is fast on my end. Great job to all the developers who worked on V3.

I know that V3 is NOT yet fast enough for some of you. I am highly sensitive to that fact. If we do not have some kind of solution before Sept 30, we will NOT shut it down. We are working hard on it. However, we need your help! Can you please do me a favor and use the REPORT BUG button when you hit a particularly slow page? Just comment and say "Slow loading page" and we will be able to get a better look at what is happening. Thank you!
