1WL Classic Tournament
Ciao a tutti!
A presto!
Alberto
The ONE WORLD League is happy to announce the first season of its CLASSIC Championship tournaments.
CLASSIC tournaments will be played on 7-8 boards, starting on February 27. Rounds will generally start on the last Sunday in each month*: Clubs can register several teams. They only need to make sure, that a player doesn’t play twice in the same round ** and that their teams have a descending average rating.***
Registration will be managed in two steps:
- NOW clubs only need to post a comment mentioning the number of their teams and including a link to a current match, which shows 12 players for each registered team.
- LATER all clubs will be paired to a Placement match on 12 boards for each registered team: These matches will generally start on January 30 (for late entrants on February 6) and the shown strength in these matches will be used to place the participating teams.
The ten strongest teams will play in the CLASSIC Championship 2022. Three teams will relegate to the CLASSIC Open A in 2023. Next ten teams will play in the CLASSIC Open A 2022: Three teams will promote and four will relegate.
Following divisions will have two subdivisions with up to ten teams for each (sub-)division in the next higher division: Two clubs will promote, four clubs will relegate.
Sonneborn-Berger will be first tiebreaker, the number of board points will be second tiebreaker. If needed to determine promotion or relegation, provisional standings by the end registration for season 2023 will be used.
Registration is best until January 13 and will end on January 27.
* In later rounds higher divisions are likely to be moved to third Sundays, assuming that this fits better for clubs which are also participating in the TOUR Series or the GRAND PRIX.
** In the event, that this will occur, the games of those players will be counted as lost for the lower placed team: In case of repetition (or abuse) clubs risk to see all their teams disqualified.
*** Matches of teams, which don’t have a lower average rating as higher placed teams from the same club, will be forfeited: In case of repetition clubs risk to see all their teams disqualified.
