Good morning chess friends.

Why a new blog? I said to myself, everyone writes, why not try it too?  I have no CV to share, I think what is said is more important than who says it. Sure, sure, you read the articles of strong and titled players compared to those of "wood pushers" like me, but since most of them aren't titled players, who better than me knows what we're looking for?

I am addressing the majority of players who, having passed the pure neophyte phase, where they have learned the rules well, want to improve and become a chess player. The right thing to do would be to rely on a coach, but instead you open the internet and look for two things to find a shortcut:

A) free content

B) magic recipes

Let's dispel these two myths right away. The first exists, you are spoiled for choice, the second does not.

The web is full of free content, only that it becomes impossible to know what is needed to improve? There are no magic recipes, however. Even if in a certain position the world champion says c5 is to be played, if I don't understand why, I wouldn't know what to play next move.

So? How you do it. You have to study, study, study and play. Nice discovery, you will say, but let's try to answer the fundamental question: what to study. I know a myriad of beginners who know and look for an infinite number of opening traps and dedicate themselves to studying openings, but once they come out of their mnemonic study they leave a myriad of pieces in hold. Did they use their time well? For me no.

To learn to play chess you have to start from the basics. From simple things.

I like to make a mathematical analogy. Can I start from differential equations without knowing the 4 operations? Obviously not so why do I have to start from the openings.

A beginner must know perfectly and there are no exceptions, the mad elementary

K+ Q versus King

K+R versus King

K+ 2B against King

K+B+N versus King

K+pawn versus king.

Let's start with these and it's no small thing.

Buongiorno amici e amiche degli scacchi.

Perché un nuovo blog? Mi son detto, scrivono tutti, perché non provarci anch'io?  Non ho curriculum da voler condividere, penso sia più importante quello che si dice rispetto a chi lo dice. Certo, sicuramente, si leggono gli articoli dei giocatori forti e titolati rispetto a quelli degli "spingi legno" come me, ma dato che la maggior parte non sono giocatori titolati, chi meglio di me sa cosa cerchiamo?

Mi rivolgo alla maggioranza dei giocatori che superata la fase del neofita puro, dove si sono imparate per bene le regole, si vuole migliorare e diventare un giocatore di scacchi. La cosa giusta da fare sarebbe quella di affidarsi ad un allenatore, ma invece si apre internet e si cercano due cose per cercare una scorciatoia:

A) contenuti gratuiti

B) ricette magiche 

Sfatiamo subito questi due miti. Il primo esiste, c'è solo l'imbarazzo della scelta, il secondo invece no.

Di contenuti gratuiti la rete è piena, solo che diventa impossibile sapere cosa serve per migliorare? Di ricette magiche invece non esistono. Anche se in una determinata posizione il campione del mondo dicesse che si gioca c5, se non capisco il motivo, alla mossa successiva non saprei già cosa giocare.

E allora? Come si fa. Si deve studiare, studiare, studiare e giocare. Bella scoperta, direte, ma proviamo a rispondere alla domanda fondamentale: cosa studiare. Conosco una miriade di principianti che sanno e cercano una infinità di trappole di apertura e si dedicano a studiare le aperture, ma usciti dal loro studio mnemonico lasciano semplicemente i pezzi in presa. Hanno impiegato bene il loro tempo? Per me no.

Per imparare a giocare a scacchi bisogna partire dalle basi. Dalle cose semplici. 

Mi piace fare una analogia matematica. Posso partire dalle equazioni differenziale senza conoscere le 4 operazioni? Ovviamente no e allora perché devo partire dalle aperture.

Un principiante deve conoscere perfettamente e non esistono deroghe, i matti elementari

R+A+C contro Re

R+pedone contro Re.

Partiamo da questi e non è poco.
