Recently it was the 75th birthday of Henry Winkler, who will forever be remembered as The Fonz in Happy Days 1974-84, for which he won two Golden Globes and was nominated many more times, also for Emmys, becoming an icon of the 70s, the character being spun into Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy. He has however over 135 screen credits and more recently has been in Arrested Development 2003-19, Childrens Hospital 2010-16 and Parks & Recreation 2013-15, and won an Emmy for his role in Barry 2018. Born in Manhattan NYC he grew up in Brooklyn, New York and also at the family home in Lake Mahopac, New York. Attended Emerson College in Boston and gained a master's degree at Yale before embarking on his career to success. He now lives in California but is an avid fly-fisherman, for which he always stays in Montana. In the UK he has an honorary OBE for his work on children with learning difficulties and he has moved into producing, directing and writing children's novels, and is a regular visitor to the UK to appear in Christmas pantomimes.
