The purpose of GCMS Chess Club is to introduce new players to the strategic game of chess while developing players with more experience to advanced levels thus giving all players an opportunity to excel in the game of chess and academics. Chess is a fun and competitive way to cultivate higher-order thinking skills such as visualizing, analyzing, and thinking critically. Through chess, our students have improved their ability to focus on tasks and increase productivity. 

Online membership is open to any GCMS student in grades 6-8,sponsors, coaches, and administrators only; however our teachers, faculty, and staff members are welcome to join us for an over the board game of chess in the library on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30.
