My present ambitions in chess lie with fast games of 1 minute and 3 minute time control, especially on chess.com. My general idea is something like this: I dream to compete with @Yaacovn and @Hikaru as peers, and I feel as though I’m close enough in ability to actually find it realistic to at least catch Yaacov via immersion into reading and solving puzzles, maybe within a year or two, if I really focus. It might take longer, and that’s ok. I feel inspired by David Milliern, because he illustrated with his life that it’s possible to study essentially nonstop while feeling healthy and productive as a person. My peers generally were not reading “every book ever written” on a topic, while his approach sure seems close to that, and advises me similarly. He was active at mentoring me between ages 16 and 19, now I’m resuming chess improvement. Let’s see what’s possible!
