I've had a very fortunate life. I have a wonderful wife and family. I've played chess off and on throughout most of my life. Although I'm not good enough to give advice to many players, for those of you who are looking for a way to improve and stay sharp for playing chess I suggest doing tactical problems on a consistent basis. I find the tactical problems at chess.com very useful and often use the computer analysis if I want to go deeper\understand some problem more completely or see all the variations. If the problems there are too hard for you at this time, don't worry. Find a book or other source of easier problems until you are ready to move on. Best of luck to all!
