Hi! I'm vitualis, the chess noob (aka chessnoob64), and I run the "Adventures of a Chess Noob" YouTube channel and blog. I'm learning and having fun with chess! I restarted playing chess recently after my interest was rekindled by the release of "The Queen's Gambit" on Netflix. I mostly play 1 or 2 games a day, and am trying to improve (slowly!). I document some of my games and learning experiences on my blog and YouTube channel. On chess.com: https://www.chess.com/blog/vitualis and independent platform: https://adventuresofachessnoob.com/ YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@chessnoob64 Please support the channel by buying official "Adventures of a Chess Noob" merch at https://chessnoob64.com Watch my chess short films! I was born in 1960 - the year a young Mikhail Tal became World Champion. After leaving the British junior chess circuit I started working unusual hours and have done ever since. For that reason I had very little chance to play chess as an adult, and instead bought chess books. At least 1000 have passed through my hands, and I have gone over at least 50,000 Master level games. I am fascinated by chess as an evolutionary process, and have been writing about chess history since the days when I had to type up articles on a stencil for a 'duplicating machine'. There is a saying :- 'No-one is entitled to an opinion. Everyone is entitled to an informed opinion. Who would say that they are entitled to ignorance.' Sometimes things that ' everybody knows' are not true. All chess players are my f...

Hey! I'm Tamara, a 26 y/o Twitch streamer from Montenegro. If we get matched, I kindly ask that you don't watch the stream during the game! This is called stream sniping, a form of cheating that spoils the fun of playing. Please don't send me challenges to games, as I generally only play the pool to make sure the games are fair. To play in arenas, join our club Loneli Hearts Club - we give away chess.com monthly memberships to random players! If you'd like to get to know me and my community, consider joining us at twitch.tv/loneliwinter .
I am a New York-based writer, documentary producer, and chess expert (USCF rating ~2130). My insane obsessive hobby for a long time has been to play through old chess games, more or less in chronological order. I am interested in the evolution of chess and looking to follow various ideas as they develop over time, but most of all, I am interested in the players and in treating them sort of the way an art survey book would treat artists. The theory is that each top player – to consistently defeat other grandmasters – has to bring something new to the game, has to have a philosophy of chess that sets them apart. For non-chess-writing (if there really is such a thing), my primary home is the Substack 'Castalia.' This includes fiction, essays, personal reflections, commentary on politics a...

I was 4. My father came to me, bent down, looked deep into my eyes, gave me a toy gun (my first one), and told me, “You’re a big boy now; take care of our family.” I didn’t see him for two years. He left for the war. I was six when he returned. (I didn’t recognize him initially due to his beard)He was surprised to see I knew how to play chess. My Grandma had taught me. Long story short, he took me to a chess school. I got badly beaten in my first game, got angry, and started to train… Long story even shorter, I became a Grandmaster at 19. Then crossed 2,600. Then got very close to breaking into the top 100 players in the world. But then… I fell in love. Not with a person. I fell in love with chess coaching. I began assisting and instructing other passionate chess players. When...

"These young guys are playing checkers... I'm out there playing chess." - Kobe Bryant INTRODUCTION Hey there, my name is Noah B! I am a 14-year-old Christian who loves everything chess! MY CHESS JOURNEY 2 years ago now, I discovered the game of chess when my friend Max started really getting into it. He taught me how the pieces move and all of that, and I was fascinated. I decided that I wanted to be really good at chess. I created a Chess.com account, started watching a lot of chess on YouTube and Twitch, and the rest is history. After about a year of playing chess, I started participating in my first chess tournaments. I was terrified, but I knew it was good for me if I wanted to get better. I faced my fears and kept participating in more and more chess events. Eventually, I start...
