지난 일요일 새벽(한국 시간) 히카루 나카무라(Hikaru Nakamura)가 OnJuno의 후원으로 열린 2020 스피드 체스 챔피언십(Speed Chess Championship)에서 우승했습니다. 나카무라 선수는 불릿 부문에서 큰 격차를 벌리며 GM 맥심 바시어-라그라브(Maxime Vachier-Lagrave)를 꺾고 3년 연속 스피드 체스 챔피언에 올랐습니다.
바시어-라그라브 선수는 승률에 따라 $4,032(한화 약 440만 원)를, 나카무라 선수는 우승 상금 $10,000과 승률에 따른 $5,967를 합한 $15,967(한화 약 1,745만 원)을 상금으로 받습니다.

2020 스피드 체스 챔피언십은 세계 정상급 체스 그랜드 마스터가 참가한 16강 녹아웃 토너먼트로 진행되었습니다. 총상금 규모는 $100,000(한화 약 1억 1천만 원)로 작년보다 2배가 커졌습니다. 대회는 11월 1일부터 12월 13일까지 진행되었으며, 경기 형식은 5분+1초 블리츠 90분, 3분+1초 블리츠 60분, 1분+1초 불릿 30분으로 구성되었습니다.
