I am not a genius, nor was I born with an incredible chess mind. I began playing the game as a rank amateur lacking the raw talent many grandmasters intrinsically possess. I am, however, armed with a passion to unlock and to understand the mysteries and wonders behind this ancient game. For the first time in my life, I am overwelmed by a powerful belief that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to. Until recently, becoming a grandmaster was not a goal of mine. This year, however, things have changed.
Somebody asked me the other day “If I only had one life to live, what would I be?” This seemed like a rather silly question. To which I simply responded, “Well I only have one life to live, and I am a chess professional.” We would be foolish and wasteful if we did not make this the absolute best life we can live. We should not leave anything to chance. We should relentlessly strive towards our goals to make all of our deepest desires come true. Our dreams give us something tangible to work towards. Without them life would be completely meaningless. In our conquest to accomplish these aspirations, we challenge ourselves beyond our current capacity and we learn a great deal about ourselves and the world around us.
I do believe we can find ourselves in other “things” and hobbies. Through perserverance in understanding things(in my case, chess) we arrive at a deeper meaning within ourselves. My intention with chess is to share my experience, love, dedication with other chess players. My work is designed to help others challenge their expectations, break down their personal obstacles, and help them become a master at any endeavor you wish to pursue.
